Underground Pet Fences To Help Contain Your Family Pet

Underground pet fences have become a popular alternative to having the family dog chained up for the day. When you own a pet you want to ensure that they remain safe and secure when running around the yard. However, there are some dogs that are masters at escaping and no matter how high the fence is, they will get out. The underground fence is not actually a fence, but a very clever radio signaled containment device.

The underground fence works by transmitting a signal from the cables that are imbedded in the perimeter of the garden. They will be transmitted to the dog's collar ensuring that they do not pass over the cables of the underground animal fences. As the dog approaches the area with the cables, a warning tone that can only be heard from the dog is emitted. If the dog still proceeds to cross the signal is changed into a static shock.

This style of perimeter fence is the perfect solution to dogs that wander, and once they have received the shock a few times they will not cross the underground fence. This style of underground fence is far cheaper than other conventional fences and containment methods. It does not need to be painted, maintained and repaired. Although the underground pet fences are ideal for the perimeter they can also be used in other areas.

Some people worry that the dog will wander into the pool area or vegetable patch. By placing the underground animal fences exactly where the home owner wants they know that the dog will not enter these areas. They are incredibly easy to install and the dog will learn very quickly where they can and cannot go. The underground fence is perfect in areas that insist that dogs have to be contained and will help to prevent wandering, reproductive issues and health concerns.

The underground pet fences are very effective; however, the dog will need some training to ensure they understand why they are receiving this warning. Teaching the dog what to do when they receive the warning tone is important, and they have to be rewarded for backing away from the underground fence. Rewards work far better with dogs rather than punishments and the dog will appreciate the rewards for their good behavior.

The training may take some time and there will be occasions when the dog crosses the underground fences. However, if the training is kept up and the reward scheme implemented, the dog will learn right from wrong. They will understand that they are far better staying in the yard and not wandering off. Once the dog is contained in the yard everyone will relax and know that they are safe and secure.

People love their pets and treat them as one of the family; they will want no harm to come to their favorite dog. By taking the time to install the underground pet fences everyone is kept happy and the neighbors have nothing to complain about. The dog will be kept in the safest place and be far more obedient in the future.
