Friends,
Much has happened since the Illinois Conservatives and the Illinois Tea Party came out and endorsed Don Manzullo for congress in the 16th District. We have seen a fundamental shift in the way politics is being practiced in Illinois. Congressman Adam Kinzinger is correct that he, along with many freshman Republicans, were sent to Washington D.C. to “change the conversation” about government spending. Back in Illinois, however, the only type of conversation Mr. Kinzinger is trying to change is in regards to his voting record compared to the current Congressman of the 16th district, Don Manzullo.
The Illinois Conservatives and the Illinois Tea Party has come under attack for just publishing the voting records of the two candidates.
We saw nine county chairs (and one woman) openly endorse a candidate while the grassroots organizations endorsed Don Manzullo. While it is not uncommon for county chairmen to endorse candidates, they almost always wait until after the primary and not before. Unfortunately, the Kinzinger Campaign won’t tell you that none of the Central Committees in those counties have endorsed any candidates, because they have remained neutral. So what should we take out of the endorsements of the GOP chairs in the southern counties? Only that they were just personal endorsements, and that they do not reflect the overwhelming view of the entire Central Committee or the Precinct Committeemen in those counties.
They want Adam for all the wrong reasons. While he is young, good looking, and an Air Force pilot, his voting record in Washington DC is something to be desired.
Please take the time to compare the voting records of Don Manzullo and Adam Kinzinger. What you will find is that Congressman Manzullo votes more for fiscal responsibility than Congressman Kinzinger. In fact, Congressman Manzullo voted for $209 billion more in cuts than Congressman Kinzinger. Here are three verified examples which we encourage you to independently verify:
Congressman Adam Kinzinger voted WITH Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi on a $15 million dollar earmark for a nature preserve in California. Congressman Don Manzullo and the Tea Party Freshman class voted against Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Congressman Adam Kinzinger.
Congressman Adam Kinzinger voted WITH Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz to fund $64.1 million dollars the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) STAR program that funds left leaning research projects. Congressman Don Manzullo and the Tea Party Freshman class voted against Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz and Congressman Adam Kinzinger.
Congressman Adam Kinzinger Voted with Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky to fund the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) organization that provided oversight and the actual loan to Solyndra. Congressman Don Manzullo and the Tea Party Freshman voted against Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and Congressman Adam Kinzinger.
Just if you were curious, the ultra left leaning Daily Kos has even picked up on the race between Congressman Don Manzullo and Congressman Adam Kinzinger calling it a “tasty treat.” But what is really interesting is the follow on commentary:
And here’s one more thought about this duel, not just in light of this poll but also the Illinois Tea Party’s endorsement of Manzullo earlier this week. Kinzinger has turned out to be a lot more moderate than one would have thought—I don’t know if the insurgent thing was a convenient act for herding tea partiers, or if he decided to tack left once he started to see his redistricting fate. He currently has a Progressive Punch score of 8.8, putting him at 236 overall in the House and in the second decile among House Republicans for liberalness. Manzullo’s at 307, almost dead-center in the GOP caucus.
You simply cannot make this stuff up. Do you want a moderate or a conservative representing you in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 113th Congress? That’s the conversation people in the 16th district need to have, and are not buying Adam’s attempt to “change” and “avoid” the conversation.
Please share this with your friends, your neighbors, and your family. Please join us in the discussion on facebook and twitter. The more people who know about the voting records of Congressman Kinzinger and Congressman Manzullo, the better our conservative movement will be.
Thanks!

Illinois Conservatives Announce Endorsement
Janet Silosky for State Representative in the 98th District
Oregon, IL – The Illinois Conservatives announced their ninth endorsement for the 2012 elections today, Janet Silosky for the 98th State Representative District.
Janet is a small business owner, experienced special education paraprofessional and a loyal conservative. The Illinois Conservatives believe Silosky has the background necessary to not only win in November, but to be an impactful member of the Illinois House once she arrives.
“One thing you will notice about the majority of our endorsements this cycle is we have gone with a lot of small business owners,” Illinois Conservatives President Zach Oltmanns said. “I believe a big reason for that is because our leadership knows that getting Illinoisans back to work is very important. Janet is another small business owner with knowledge about creating jobs.”
In addition to being a small business owner, Janet has the experience of balancing a family budget as a devoted and proud parent of 4 children and now 5 grandchildren, and wife of over 30 years to Steve Silosky.
“Janet knows how to get work done even in tough times,” Oltmanns said. “If elected to the state house she will be another ally to the Illinois Conservative movement.”
Receiving this endorsement will provide Silosky with support from the Illinois Conservative members. This support includes grassroots assistance, outreach to younger votes, and additional volunteers to augment her campaign, something that should prove valuable as we approach primary Election Day.
The Illinois Conservatives, a leading conservative grassroots organization in Illinois, believe in conservative ideologies and supports political candidates who share in those beliefs for the betterment of the State of Illinois.
Well as if you did not have enough reasons to pick Congressmen Manzullo over Congressmen Kinzinger, here is another one. Adam Kinzinger does not even live in the 16th Congressional District! I know, I know, I know, the Kinzinger campaign will come back with “Joe Walsh does not live in the 8th Congressional District but he is running for re-election.” The reason for that is simple he did not want to take on a fellow CONSERVATIVE Republican. Congressmen Walsh would rather take on the Chicago machine than go against Randy Hultgren. You might ask yourself why didn’t Kinzinger run against the winner of the ultra-liberal Jesse Jackson Jr and the ultra-liberal Debbie Halvorson (who he beat in 2010) in the 2nd Congressional District? Well your guess is as good as ours! Below I have posted a map of what towns Manzullo and Kinzinger live in, in regards to the new district.

A recent poll by Siena College in New York on Feb. 1st tells us one of two things about voters in New York. New Yorkers are either haters or liars. The poll is a little weak on data, but what it does offer is very questionable. Lets start with the top line GOP primary vote:
- Mitt – 31%
- Newt – 29%
- Paul – 19%
- Santorum -13%
Those number are nothing out of the usual as far as the North-East is concerned, but we expect to see Newt Gingrich’s numbers drop and Rick Santorum’s to rise.

Public Policy Polling did a poll in Ohio last week, and from what we can see, Ohio is going to be dirty. Lets cut the fluff and get to the meat and potato, or as I prefer the meat and meat.
- Newt – 26%
- Mitt – 25%
- Santorum – 22%
- Paul – 11%
Four-percent separates first and third with a margin of error of 3.9%, statically this is a 3 way tie. Like with our post on Missouri the two man race question is a blow to Newt Gingrich’s theory that Rick Santorum dropping out will help him.

In keeping with the theme of this years Republican Nomination, new polls today from PPP shows two different leaders in Colorado and Minnesota. So far this year we have had three primaries and two caucuses with three different winners, and the trend of splitting delegates does not look like it’s going to change anytime soon.
On Tuesday, 76 delegates are up for grabs. We have already reported that Missouri will be holding a primary but no delegates will be rewarded, so that leaves us with Colorado (36) and Minnesota (40). Colorado appears to be following suit of neighbor Nevada and supporting Romney.

Last year the Missouri State Legislature voted to move up its state’s primary to early February in an attempt to make the Show Me State more relevant in national politics. Like most state capitals, Jefferson City is full of well-intentioned morons!
New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, Arizona, and Michigan also have state capitals full of well-intentioned morons. The RNC punished those 5 states by cutting half of its delegates and giving them less favorable seating at the National Convention in Tampa, FL. Fearing seats in the nose bleed section, the MO GOP chose to tell Jeff City what they can do with their primary, and will be holding a jacked up caucus in March.
This week Missouri is putting on their pointless beauty contest. Newt Gingrich will not be in this primary because, well, he just did not care enough to file. It’s that simple. Due to Newt’s decision to blow off Missouri, the polls look kind of weird, but nonetheless interesting.
- Santorum – 45%
- Romney – 34%
- Paul – 13%
